For the last few weeks I have been only posting pictures of “flora”. I am going to jump into some pictures of other things now. I hope you enjoy them.
Yes, I have been seriously lagging on my goal of posting a new picture each day. Trust me… I’ve been taking plenty of pictures, it’s the “post processing” that kills me. Just not enough time. I will get back to posting as of today though and hopefully get caught back up by the end of the year!

When I did my initial posting of the parade floats, I just picked a few that didn’t require too much work – they place the floats for viewing in an area that is surrounded by phone/power lines. Nearly EVERY shot is ruined by them and there is no place to stand to take a decent picture that doesn’t contain them. So, today I am starting a [re]series of the floats that I have taken the time to crop out as much junk as possible, but still leave an interesting picture. I hope you like them…

We went to the Los Angeles Zoo yesterday and I took a LOT of pictures of the animals — yes, I love taking pictures of wildlife, so you’re going to have to endure a bunch in this new series. Feel free to leave me feed back!
Beginning today, I am going to make the “full-sized” photos smaller. This should not affect the quality of the photos, but increase load times significantly. Please let me know if you see any problems.
Today I am going to post a series of pictures from the wild fires that raged through Southern California last November. As is normal for us on a Saturday, one of our boys had a soccer match in the neighboring city of Chino Hills. On the way home from the game, traffic was heavy and we noticed a water dropping helicopter passing in front of us. We couldn’t see much smoke, or where the helicopter was going because it is a very hilly area and the “action” was around the other side of the hill from where we were.
We finally got around to where we could see what was going on and saw that a fire had broken out (well, duh, obviously). This isn’t too uncommon so we headed home and didn’t think much about it.
As the evening wore on, we learned that the little fire we had seen, had grown to epic proportions and had burned some houses and was threatening hundreds more.
The following morning, watching the news, we saw that the fire was located in several cities and burning pretty much unchecked.
“Hey guys, let’s go see if we can find the fire”. I grabbed a couple of cameras and we headed out. I took several hundred pictures that day at three different locations: Chino Hills, Yorba Linda, Brea. There are too many to post all of them, but I’ve included some of what I thought were the better ones.
I am going to be expanding the site a bit. This section you’re reading now will be used for announcements or additional details – possibly general rants.
I will also be adding geographic targeting for the photographs, as well as adding details on what lens was used. Please let me know if you have any suggestions!
Jesse
